I often get asked, “what are those big round black things on the back of your laptop screen?!”
I hope the person I learned this from sees this so I can credit them, but right now I don’t recall if I thought of this or if I got it from someone. Let me know if you are the one who taught me this!
External hard drives: where do they go???
This is a super easy solution to making my external portable hard drives work better! I bring my laptop everywhere with me…my couch, a coffee shop, from one room to another, etc. The problem is I’m always tethered to a drive or two (I edit piles of videos and photos and keep backups of everything) and the WORST feeling is when that external drive falls or the cable gets tugged out. In fact, it’s not safe for your data at all to just unplug your hard drive; you should always disconnect properly.
So here is the solution:
Velcro the drive to your computer!
I attach the hard side of these industrial strength Velcro dots on the hard drives and the soft side on the back of my laptop screen.
