Teaser for Drew Gardners Epic Fashion zebra photo shoot

by Lan Bui on November 8, 2010

I’m not going to say much about this video… just that Drew Gardner had Vu and I shoot a promo for his photo shoot in the UK. We had a great time and can’t wait to release the full video, which will be happening soon. Well… I’ll also say… I’ve had a chance to see rough edits of the photos and they are really EPIC!

UPDATE: Althought the slow motion is not technically perfect, I really loved the way it turned out. It has dreamy motion effect that works perfect for the look we wanted. Sometimes something undesired and technically wrong works to your benefit! Seriously I love the dreamy cool look it made.

Also a quick bit from Drew’s post:

In fact if you want to know more about this shoot and the rest of ‘The Forest’ series why not join me (its FREE!) at my Manfrotto School of Xcellence Webinar Tutorial on December 6th.

I see you twixtor’d the slo-mo – the ripples it leaves in the interpolated frames remind me of Predator in this setting :)

Yeah it was too complex for a clean Twixtor… but we REALLY liked the effect, it worked out perfectly!

I think Twixtor is going to turn into one of those “you either love it or hate it, but it’s definitely a look” things, kinda like HDR and overdone tonemapping has for stills photography.

Rather cool in this instance though :)

Yeah when it’s done right (like in that BMX video that was making the rounds on Vimeo recently) it can be amazing. It’s pretty much the poor man’s solution to a Phantom camera… or lack of ability to rent one!

But like everything… yup it’s gonna get overused! :)

What camera did you guys use?

We used two 5D mark II’s and one Canon FX305 for the steadicam shots.
