Sarah Lane – Headshots

by Lan Bui on December 20, 2008

This morning before we left San Francisco, from our 3 day photo trip, we met up with Sarah Lane for a 15 minute headshot photo shoot. You may know her from TV shows such as The Screen Savers and Attack of the Show, or an IPTV show PopSiren.

The shoot took place in Fisherman’s Warf and we shot for a total of only about 10 minutes. Since we had never met Sarah before, we spent a few minutes walking to our shoot location and talking a bit to get to know each other.

Here is one of our favorites from the shoot:

Nice shot, I love the lighting! What camera/lens did you use?

@molson, Thanks for the compliment!

This was shot with a Canon 5D Mark II on JPEG High, ISO 100, 1/1250th sec with a Canon 85mm f/1.8 at f/1.8. The sun as a back-light and big blue sky for the front light.

I couldn’t figure out why her name was familiar – then I read the post. Man, I miss The Screen Savers! (Although I have to admit – Chris Pirillo’s Call for Help was awesome. I liked that even more.)

I’ve always said Sarah is one of the most lucious ladies in tech, and this shot reinforces that. Love the narrow depth of field you achieved and all with natural lighting.

I have a Fuji S1 Pro that is starting to show its’ age which I was going to replace with an S5 – although the Canon 5D Mk II looks like it could be a contender as well (used to have a Canon A1 many years ago that was great).

Do you have any thoughts either way ?

Again, fantastic photos….

@@moldor, Thank you for the great compliment.

I’ve never used a Fuji digital camera so I’m not able to recommend against it… but I can highly recommend the Canon 5d Mark II. It is a great camera, I’ve been using it for a few months now and I’m still amazed at how much I love it.

@Lan Bui, I’m definately looking at the 5D as a replacement.

‘shame you can’t post more than the one shot here. Love to see more of how this shoot turned out. :-)

@Ellis, We would love to post more once we do another shoot of Sarah! This shoot was only a few minutes long, so we didn’t do anything crazy.

Sarah Lane is one of the most beautiful women in the world in my opinion, she is so flawless and she got a sharp mind too.
