TWITTER FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS – PART 1

by Lan Bui on May 7, 2008

UPDATE: The TRACK feature is currently disabled by Twitter. We hope they bring it back soon!!!

(scroll down for iTunes gift card giveaway info)

This long (11 minutes) video was made for our photographer friends who are just now getting into Twitter. It’s the longest video we’ve ever made… and is only part 1 of 2… we’re trying out a different format (longer and more detailed) which seems to be popular these days. Let us know what you think about it

$25 iTunes giftcard giveaway:

We want to know what you want to hear about. Leave a comment here (or even better, a VIDEO comment!) with a suggestion for a future episode (about absolutely anything), and we’ll randomly pick one to receive a $25 iTunes giftcard. Comments must be left between 12:01AM PST on Tuesday, May 11th 2008 and midnight PST on Monday night, May 17th 2008. In order to be entered you must enter your real email address and name when leaving the comment (email addresses are not published). You don’t actually have to suggest something to be entered, all comments will be entered. Especially ones that tell us how great we are. Those get entered twice.

Oh, and unfortunately we’ve been told that there are rules and laws and things that prevent us from allowing international folks to get into this… so it’s US residents only… but we’d still love to hear from you!

A future episode about equipment is what I need. Computers, software, cameras, lenses – whatever! All I know I have dug up on other [b]logs or websites, but it’s always just a snippet. I wouldn’t mind a (no-so-short) video on what you think the most important equipment is to a photographer. Thanks for doing this!!

Reply

6 Cathy and David [C+D] May 14, 2008 at 5:19 am

I have to agree with what Becker said on the [b] school on the answer to the question of a photographers most important item of equipment. Your phone. :)

Orbie! Part 2 hasn’t been filmed yet. We’re probably going to film it in a week when this little giveaway is over and we draw the winner (we’ll probably do it live online).

Reply

30 Donna May 14, 2008 at 5:36 am

Ok. I begrudgingly got a blog and now I loved. I caved and got Facebook. Do I really have to twitter? Do my clients/friends really want to know what I’m doing? Hell. I’m barely interested in what I’m doing if I don’t have a camera in my hand. : ) OK. So I’m a little cranky before my coffee this morning.

Are you guys sharing the secret world of Twitter with the rest of the photographers out there now? Before you know it, they will all be getting those BLOGSITES too! (Heehee!) I *heart* twitter – I’ve been on it since 2006; it was how we ended up with the Emergency Wedding last year when the photographer they originally hired no-showed on them. The power of 140 characters – it is great!

Hi Tim, just use ‘untrack’ then the word/phrase you want to stop tracking.

I have a total love/hate relationship with Twitter. All the geeks here in SF love it, but it seems like a giant waste of time.

But you two have convinced me maybe it’s something I need to be interested in, and I hate you a little for that. ;)

I wish your videos are subtitled or have transcripts as I am profoundly deaf and a photographer too . . . so I just have to look at the pictures or your diagrams, etc to figure out …a bit (okay, a lot more) extra work just to get what y’all are saying.

There are a lot of deaf photographers out there who would benefit from people who include subtitles or transcripts.

Overall, your work is fabulous! I just found about you today, and spend the day looking at your videos, btw . . .

Reply

65 Lan Bui December 16, 2009 at 1:58 am

Hi Charlene!

Thanks for letting us know. Whenever possible we do try to include as much description of the video in text, but I’m sure it isn’t enough for someone that is deaf.

If you have any questions or want clarification feel free to leave them here in the comments and we will answer them, or email us any time!
